Saw this yesterday. Surprisingly good. Tied in a lot of Conan Doyle symbology and characters even though it didn’t really follow any of Conan Doyle’s stories. Action movie through and through though. Forgets there’s a story for an hour. Beautifully uses Watson as the not as smart version of Holmes without making him seem dumb. Maybe I just love Jude Law.
Following Prof. Jordan, I tried to figure out what they unintentionally left out of the nice neat ending, but it seems that everything was accounted for.
This is not Conan Doyle’s Holmes. He has the same mannerisms (slash arrogance), it’s true, but doesn’t act the same way. He’s too American in this movie.
That said, of course I’m going to go see it.
