And yes, of course the famous women who’ve posed have done so willingly. That’s because they’ve been persuaded by the anti-feminist backlash that to do so is “empowering,” which is proof that there is almost nothing propaganda can’t do. No idea is too absurd, no suggestion too preposterous that a good propaganda campaign can’t make it seem perfectly logical and appealing. Look, if posing naked were empowering, then the rich men who run the world would be lining up for it. We would be awash in naked dick shots of Warren Buffet and Bill Gates and Barack Obama; magazines would be filled with male politicians and financiers and moguls with their bits hanging out. Softly lit, perhaps; head coyly tilted, bunny tail on the ass. Power.

Let me give you some “propaganda” here. The problem with this quote is that it presupposes that the power that is sought in “empowerment” through nude photography or porn is the same dominant and destructive power that rules most of our modern world. Yes indeed, how clever of you to point out that posing naked doesn’t give you any financial or military power. Duh. The empowerment that is made out of porn and nude photography is SELF-empowerment. It’s about reclaiming an act that has been forever considered to be the realm of dominated, ill-moraled women, and saying : “This is MY body, and I will show it to you the way I want it to be shown.” Patriarchy, when it comes to sexuality, deems only that male sexuality is morally acceptable to be shown publicly. If a woman does it, she’s a slut, she’s a prostitute and it is in the service of male desire. Feminists taking on pornography and expressing their nudity and sexuality on their terms are doing the extremely important and brave job of reclaiming the shame that patriarchy wants to induce and pulls sexual expression out of a commercial or dominating dynamic. That is what the “empowerment” is about.

Bill Gates, Barack Obama, and Warren Buffet are male. They do not need any form of self-empowerment, they already have it. It’s called privilege. That’s why you don’t see them expressing their sexuality publicly. They don’t need to do that in order to reclaim their bodies and their sexualities, they already have all of that. Furthermore, I do not know one single feminist who wants to acquire the type of power these men have. These are the forms of power we seek to destroy, not replace them with ourselves!

The real problem is not porn or no porn, it’s what kind of porn, saying what about who. And that’s why it’s crucial that anarcha-feminists do porn and critically talk about porn. It’s about creating the alternative.

Fuuuuuuckyes.

Pretty much how I feel anytime anyone says, “I don’t pose nude - I have self-respect.” I know so many women who have self-respect and do nude modeling.
