Sure, conventional wisdom dictates that music (probably opera) is best heard through a pair of $500 Sennheisers, but this video makes a compelling case for the Longfin Inshore Squid as the best speaker system on the market. Seen here are the squid’s multi-colored chromatophores (the cells that make animal camouflage possible) stimulated by an electrode attached to an iPod playing Cypress Hill’s 1993 barrio classic.
If all that sounds pretty technical to you, it’s only because scientists try not to say stuff like “we played rap through a squid” when it comes time to get their grants renewed. Still, it’s super neat, so expect there to be an indie rock video using this technique within the next 6 months.
