This made me angry in a way I can’t really articulate without yelling, but I’ll try.
Apparently this is a fact, and I can’t really argue with that. But it’s a fact about opinions, and the opinions are a symptom of things I strongly dislike. It seems like it’s a new way to say, “Ladies aren’t funny.” Well, not really, because it’s about funny ladies making men uncomfortable. It’s more like, “Okay, ladies, you can be funny, but good luck finding a boyfriend because guys don’t like that shit.”
It’s not anything any one person is saying, but it’s just shitty. I like jokes and I like making jokes and I want to get better at making jokes. If guys are gonna get all defensive about it then it feels like I and other ladies can’t joke around with guy friends or guys in general, and that’s terrible for me and other ladies.
Basically, this smacks of telling ladies how to act if they want to be around men because ladies always have to make sure the man is comfortable with her level of intellect (which should be lesser than his) and she should never point out anything a man does wrong, because men are infallible, right, guys? I know that’s not literally what the pictured sentence says, but it seems a little implied (what with an entire history of women bending over backwards for the sake of male comfort and all).
(ps. this “factoid” is the opposite of most of my experiences, but I know some pretty cool guys)
